DyoFix SGP Shadow has proved very popular with gardeners that want to treat their water with an algae prevention product, without the tint of blue. Our Shadow blend reflects the primary colours (in equal amounts) and appears to the naked eye as being colourless because it allows some of the visible light to penetrate the water. In reality, if treated water was compared to clear water, a very faint tint of grey would be observed.
When there is an abundance of resources available in an ecosystem, it's the plants that benefit first. This is especially true of nitrogen, which is a very useful component to plant life.
When resources are plentiful an algal bloom can occur. This means that algae reproduce in record numbers, consuming larger and larger amounts of the resources available. Algal blooms could lead to overproduction, which will kill other pond life, both other plants and fish.
Manual algae prevention can be hard work and is not always practical. The use of chemicals, algaecides, herbicides etc, if not used in precise doses or under strict supervision by experts, can cause an imbalance of the natural nutrients in the pond. This may have a negative effect on fish, plants and other species.
DyoFix SGP Shadow Dose Rates & Application:
Half fill a watering can with pond water and add the measured amount, stir the contents. When mixed, apply to different parts of the pond.
- SGP Shadow 15: 1ml is required for each 50 litres of water
- SGP Shadow 50: 1ml is required for each 150 litres of water
Please note: The water will look to have more colour in the first few days because it takes a little longer to mix from the top to the bottom.
To maintain the level of DyoFix in the water, as a general guide, add 10% of the original dose monthly.
